In a world where financial stability plays a key role in personal success, learning to save and manage money effectively is essential.
UnitedOne Credit Union is dedicated to enhancing financial literacy among students by providing hands-on experience through student-run credit union branches.
Since the inception of its first in-school branch at Monroe Elementary in 1996, UnitedOne has positively impacting students’ financial habits.
UnitedOne has student-run credit unions at eight schools in the Manitowoc Public School District this year, including five elementary schools (Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Monroe, Madison), two middle schools (Washington, Wilson), and Manitowoc Lincoln High School.
These branches provide students with practical experience by letting them handle real transactions as Tellers and engage in marketing the credit union to their peers.
UnitedOne’s school credit union program has several key objectives:
Through these in-school branches, UnitedOne Credit Union not only imparts valuable financial lessons but also strengthens community connections and supports local youth in becoming financially responsible adults.
Furthermore, many former UnitedOne Youth Apprentices have used their experience as a launch pad to successful careers in various fields.
As a member-owned, not-for-profit institution, UnitedOne is committed to improving the financial well-being of individuals in the communities it serves. By instilling the importance of saving and providing practical financial education, UnitedOne helps students build a strong foundation for future financial success.
